Vodafone. The story of unexpected and pricy mobile Internet connection point.
The overall situation comprises of several facts:
1. I switched to bill-pay plan which costed 30 euros and included free internet and certain amount of minutes/texts.
2. Eventually my smartphone/browser/application got connected to a different internet connection point(CP) (GPRS, ISP...) which is very expensive... For instance: for using internet through that connection point for 1-2 minutes - you would have to pay 4-5 euros.
3. I was not aware that my phone got connected to that expensive CP and a month later I received a bill for 94 euros, which showed that I spent on internet about 10-15 minutes and have to pay that amount of money!
4. I called VODAFONE service twice (!!!) explaining them my issue, telling them that I was NOT intended to USE that expensive CP as I had a FREE ONE included in my BILL PLAN! First operator told me, that they were sorry and they were going to block my phone from connecting to theses CP. He also told me, that I should expect 30 percent off that bill. I called back next day and a service rep told me, that I should expect 50% off that bill.
Some time later I noticed that by using direct debit Vodafone withdrew the whole sum of my bill - 94 euros! For what??? For the reason that all other internet CPs were not switched off by default?! That was not my problem, that I was not made aware of even a possibility of such connection! I have never heard about it!!! I was on live.vodafone.ie internet plan which is free and was included into my bill plan!
If you get into same trouble someday - here is a solution:
Forward your fully detailed complain to comreg.ie or straight to William Rotte -Commission for Communications Regulation (consumerline@comreg.ie)
P.S. Next day I received a phone call from Vodafone complaint representative who said that I just had to pay for the bill (30 euros) . Done!
